The BSC analyses the latest techniques to improve urban health through data

De los datos a la acción: Salud Urbana en un Mundo Cambiante

Barcelona, June 2, 2025 – On June 12, Barcelona will be the epicentre of reflection and knowledge exchange on how to build healthier and more resilient cities through the intelligent use of data. The event “From Data to Action: Urban Health in a Changing World” organized by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS), will be held at the Vèrtex Building of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Attendance is free, but space is limited, so prior registration is required.

The event will bring together leaders in public health, urban planning, technology, communications, and research, representing leading institutions such as ISGlobal, RTVE, the University of Oxford, Nommon, and the Agència de Salut Pública de Catalunya (ASPCAT). This diversity of stakeholders reflects the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to addressing the complex challenges facing contemporary cities.

The conference will discuss how data science can guide the creation of healthier and more sustainable urban environments. Topics will range from the impact of mobility patterns on population health to the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing to anticipate risks. The event will also address the integration of environmental and epidemiological data, the fight against health misinformation, and the role of evidence-based urban planning in addressing the effects of climate change. The objective is clear: to transform knowledge into concrete action to improve the quality of life in cities.

This event is an initiative of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), a European leader in high-performance computing and data science applied to major societal challenges. Through its commitment to cutting-edge research, the BSC aims to build bridges between science, technology, and public decision-making, with the aim of designing real solutions for the cities of the future.
